Book launch session – Nuno Maulide

Técnico - Alameda campus

Técnico and Planeta Group are pleased to announce the launch of a new book by Nuno Maulide – “Como desvendar o quebra-cabeças da origem da vida?” (How to solve the puzzle of life’s origin?”). The book launch session will take place on 4th November, at 6 p.m., in Abreu Faro amphitheatre – Alameda Campus.

Synopsis

“The questions that I try to answer in this book […] came to me by email and letters (from people I have never met in person!), in interviews […], in conversations with high school students with whom I had the pleasure of “being” online […] thanks to several Physical Chemistry teachers who invited me to share my experiences in their classrooms…”
Nuno Maulide, the prestigious Portuguese scientist, professor at the University of Vienna, author of the best-seller “Como Se Transforma Ar em Pão?” (“How Do You Turn Air into Bread?”), who has won over the Portuguese, for the simple and passionate way in which he explains Chemistry, answers 27 fundamental questions about nature, technology, food and questions that have moved men for centuries, such as: What makes us human beings? What is the universe made of? And what is the origin of life?
Chemistry plays a prominent role in all these questions and challenges. Through its view of the universe with a “magnifying glass” that can “see” molecules and tries to understand their properties, based on their structure, Chemistry is in the ideal position to provide the answers and explanations we so desperately seek.
