«Téc4Defence, the first event dedicated to the theme of Defence at Instituto Superior Técnico, will take place on 14 November at Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade, together with the Industry Day organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) at Técnico.
This event is the result of a joint effort between several students’ organisations, including the Physics Students’ Organisation (NFIST), AeroTéc, Lisbon’s New Satellite (Lisat), Fórum Mecânica, Electrical and Computer Engineering Students’ Organisation (NEEC), and Técnico Debate Club, who recognised the current relevance and urgency of the topic in the European context.
The Industry Day of DEM aims to discuss opportunities for collaboration in the development of dual-use technologies and solutions for both civilian and military applications, as well as to explore possibilities for cooperation and technology transfer with companies, with the goal of stimulating joint innovation and strengthening the national technological base.
The programme will feature discussions and presentations on technological solutions under development, with the participation of companies, the Portuguese Armed Forces, and institutes affiliated with Técnico. Additionally, it will also be possible to observe real prototypes with applications in the field. Furthermore, there will be roundtables with decision-makers to discuss the past, present, and future of Portugal and Europe in this area.
