The advanced training programme “Cyber Security for Managers” was jointly designed byTraining Programme “Cyber Security for Managers” CATÓLICA-LISBON and TÉCNICO+ aiming to promote a vision of the current risks associated with Information Technologies and Management Practices. This programme aims to protect organizations, addressing technological and human components of information systems, with special attention to their vulnerabilities.
Risks are also identified, as well as the resources to manage them, followed by an integrated vision of governance of all these resources, with a particular focus on people. The programme includes the activities needed to create a plan to protect computer systems, with regard to CyberSecurity, and also an exercise on decision making under pressure in the event of a cyber attack.
The importance of CyberSecurity in Organizations
CyberSecurity is more important than ever, taking into account the emerging social and labour paradigm shift. Organizations and individuals are even more dependent on digital devices. The internet is the dominant technological tool that people use to work and to share information between teams, friends and families.
This situation has increased vulnerability to cyber attacks. Some examples: in April 2020, the WHO reported that since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of cyber attacks directed at its staff, and email scams targeting the public at large; Honda and Life Healthcare were also hit by cyber attacks in June 2020.
