The award ceremony of the 9th edition of the CA2ECTécnico – Competition to Support the Extracurricular Activities of Técnico Students’ Organisations (2023/2024 edition) – took place on 6th December, at the Abreu Faro Amphitheatre. 24 projects developed by Técnico Students’ Organisations were awarded by Santander, a member of the Técnico Partner Network, which supported the award-winning initiatives with 30,000 euros.
At the start of the ceremony, Rogério Colaço, president of Instituto Superior Técnico, emphasised the importance of the work developed by the Students’ Organisations, as well as the partnership with Santander: “The activities and initiatives of the Students’ Organisations are currently one of Técnico’s main assets in society. A very significant percentage of new students mention the Students’ Organisations and their initiatives when they start their journey at Técnico. All these initiatives have a major impact on society with the support of Santander and with your efforts. It’s a unique opportunity to be part of these projects. That’s why it’s so important to have a partnership with Santander”, he said.
Inês Oom de Sousa, President of the Santander Foundation, also mentioned the importance of maintaining the partnership with Técnico and recognising the efforts of the Students’ Organisations: “Education is our most important asset”. That’s how we can develop the economy, science and society”. Inês Rocha de Gouveia, Head of Santander Universities, highlighted the resilience of Técnico students: “Your talent and resilience are unique. We want to be more present than ever, we want to continue building and maintaining trust. Supporting education and entrepreneurship means transforming society”.
Throughout its nine editions, the CA2ECTécnico has already awarded 139 prizes, totalling 200,000 euros. Isabel Dias, Vice-President of Técnico for Financial Management, emphasised the projects submitted. “The diversity of proposals we received was remarkable.” Pedro Monteiro, President of Técnico Students’ Union (AEIST), congratulated the student organisations and the winning projects: “It’s important to stress that these students organise many initiatives throughout the year and this sets us apart from any other school in the country”, he said.
