GP17 – a more efficient car that breaks records

The qualities and achievements of the most recent PSEM prototype were highlighted during the official ceremony.

PSEM – Projeto de Sustentabilidade Energética Móvel presented this Tuesday, October 31, GP17, the most recent prototype that has broken records this season.

João Dias, vice-coordinator of the project, praised “the spirit of fellowship and cooperation among the student groups at Técnico”. According to the vice-coordinator, the work carried out by the team allowed “us to design almost all the car”. “I have no words to describe the feeling of getting to the end of the competition and see our work recognised.”, he said.

GP17 is the result of the work developed by twelve students during 10 months, resulting in a lighter, more efficient and aerodynamic car, which won the Siemens Engineering and Design Award. “Our goal is to keep evolving in the future”, noted João Dias. The team is improving several features of GP17 for the competitions next year.

Professor Luís Castro, vice-President of Técnico, attended the session and highlighted the importance of extra curricular activities at Técnico. “This year was a positive turning-point for PSEM, with very good results and achievements, which bode well for the future”, said the professor.
