Industrial Engineering and Management students win Worten Merit Award

"Optimizing the online orders preparation process" was the project awarded during the ceremony held in Worten's auditorium, at the World Trade Center Lisbon

Last Wednesday, 14th December, the Industrial Engineering and Management MSc students, presented their project within the scope of the Warehouse and Materials Management Curricular Unit, at the 2nd edition of the Worten Merit Award 2022/2023.

Alexander Stole, Inês Madeira Ferreira, Klara Cecilia Lundgren, Régis Jean François Malpas and Sandra Lisa Mailda Lindgren created a project that focuses on optimising the online order preparation process, with the aim of increasing its efficiency by reducing the number of errors and order processing time. This project stems from the group’s observation and analysis of the logistics of a warehouse, which identified gaps in the online order preparation process.

The Worten Merit Award in Warehouse and Materials Management worth 1,550€ was delivered by engineer Hugo Alexandre, Supply Chain Management at Worten. “Congratulations to all the project team, which was the best project of all”, he said.

The Vice-President of Técnico for Operations and Corporate Partnerships, professor Pedro Amaral, congratulated the students and stressed the importance of establishing a close relationship with the Técnico partners. “I always like to come to the companies that we are partners (…) how good it is for Técnico to be closer to the industry, closer to the partners which is for us the very great thing”.

Professor Susana Relvas, responsible for the Warehouses and Materials Management Curricular Unit, closed the ceremony and thanked Worten for the monetary donation to the Department of Engineering and Management (DEG) to improve teaching and learning conditions.
