This week, the Técnico new students – Taguspark campus – had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and get to know the campus. Técnico Solar Boat (TSB), the Electronics Engineering Student Group (N3E), BEST Lisbon, the Tuna Mista of Instituto Superior Técnico (TMIST) and AEIST representatives, presented their projects in the building’s atrium.
Tomás Simões didn’t get into his first choice course but he believes that he will have the opportunity to explore and learn more about informatics in the Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering course. “I’ve always loved informatics since I was 6 years old”, he shares. “I like a lot of things, but I am really passionate about computing. I found information about several university courses, but the Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering course at Taguspark campus has always been the one that attracted me the most. In addition, this is a welcoming, beautiful and recent campus, and I live nearby”.
Inês Coelho entered Electronics Engineering. Although it wasn’t her 1st choice course, she isn’t “sad”, because she always wanted to study engineering. “I know that Técnico is highly reputed and that studying here is the perfect launch-pad for a successful career”, she says. “Taguspark campus is different from other university campus. There are fewer people, which might be good to meet colleagues from other courses, which otherwise wouldn’t happen”, she adds.
Francisco Sousa’s family has a long tradition at Técnico, which may have influenced his choice. “The Computer Science and Engineering course seemed pretty good to me”, he says. Although his brother studies at Alameda campus, Francisco preferred to study at Taguspark campus, and he explains why: “the campus atmosphere is more familiar here. It’s much bigger than I expected. It’s a modern and welcoming campus” he adds.
The campus visits ended this Thursday, but the welcome session takes place today, October 1, at 11 a.m.
