The Técnico alumnus was appointed administrator of RTP on February 8, by CGI (Conselho Geral Independente).

Hugo Figueiredo got a degree in Civil Engineering at Técnico and then took an MBA from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. The Técnico alumnus has broad experience both in telecommunications and media. From 2000 to 2016 he worked at Sonae, where he held the office of chairman of Público SA, the holding company that owns Público newspaper. In 2018, he joined Optimus and in 2013 he became the Brand and Communication director at NOS. Hugo Figueiredo was also executive board member of Rádio Nova and vice-president of the Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications (APDC).
