The new double degree Master’s programme in Brain and Data Science between Técnico and Bar-Ilan University, in Israel, was presented this Tuesday, February 14.
João Sanches, Técnico professor (Department of Bioengineering) and coordinator of the double degree programme at Técnico, opened the session by describing the programme as a “unique opportunity to do research at one of the most prestigious universities”. During the session, the professor also answered some questions from the audience, via Zoom.
Alon Korn Green, professor at Bar-Ilan University, presented the programme and the Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center, the University’s Research Center where the programme will take place, and emphasized the multidisciplinary approach to neuroscience as the main focus of this programme.
“This double degree is a great way to strengthen relationships with Israel”, stressed the President of Técnico, professor Rogério Colaço. “This is a great project for Técnico”, he added.
“We want to strengthen ties between the two countries”, pointed out the Ambassador of Israel in Portugal, Dor Shapira. “Having the opportunity to live and study in both countries is a great opportunity”. Dor Shapira compared Técnico and Bar-Ilan, stating that “they are both highly reputed institutions”.
The Vice-President for Research and International Affairs at Técnico, professor Fátima Montemor, pointed out that the collaboration between Técnico and Israel (Tel Aviv) has already been going on for some years and that a great effort has been made in the preparation of this double degree programme. “It is a fantastic opportunity for any student”, said professor Fátima Montemor.
The Deputy Chief of Mission of Israel in Portugal, Yotam Kreiman, made the closing remarks and highlighted the main reasons to study in Israel.
