Técnico welcomes about 300 international students

The welcome ceremony took place this Friday at Alameda campus.

About 300 new international students arrived at Técnico during this week and had the opportunity to participate in many activities organised by the Student Support Unit (NAPE).

The session held this Friday, February 14, was part of the Orientation Week, and brought together new students from the most varied courses.

Professor Luís Miguel Silveira, former Vice-president for International Affairs, attended the ceremony on behalf of professor Fátima Montemor, the current VP for International Affairs, and highlighted the growing number of international students at Técnico which, in professor’s opinion, “reflects the investment that Técnico has been doing to attract new students and its commitment to provide the best possible experience for our international students”.

Professor Luís Miguel Silveira highlighted “the quality of Técnico students” and the academic rigour at Técnico. “In fact, the feedback we get from our mobility students is very positive. Besides loving the city and the campus atmosphere, these students value everything they learn here”, stressed the professor. “Have fun, make the most of this experience and come back whenever you want, either to do your PhD, to join our staff or just to visit us”.

Sílvia Santos, coordinator of the Mobility and International Cooperation Office (NMCI), attended the welcome session and provided important information about the mobility programmes.

The Student Support Unit (NAPE) shared information about some activities that will help and support the new international students during their stay in our country.
