Técnico welcomes international students

This semester, about 460 international students will participate in mobility programmes at Técnico. Most of the students come from Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Sweden, etc. Last Friday, September 18, the international students placed at Alameda campus had the opportunity to participate in several activities and to feel the atmosphere of the campus.

Professor Fátima Montemor, vice-president of Técnico for Research and International Affairs, opened the online “Welcome Ceremony”. “I wish you a very successful experience in Portugal, and at our school. Técnico has a unique and very stimulating entrepreneurial environment”. “You will face some adversities throughout the journey that now begins, but I am sure that you will learn a lot and you will discover very interesting things that will allow you to achieve your goals”, said professor Fátima Montemor.

The new international students had the opportunity to learn more about the Mobility and International Cooperation Office (NMCI) and the Student Support Unit (NAPE). During the afternoon the students visited the campus and learnt more about the student groups, which are some activities that are part of the Orientation Week, an project created by NAPE to welcome and integrate the new international students.

Anthony Alves, architecture student, chose Técnico to do one final year semester. “I really wanted to participate in a mobility programme in Portugal, and I ended up discovering Técnico. I’m very excited and I hope I can learn a lot here”, he says.

Anton Kwanten came from Belgium to attend the 5th year of Mechanical Engineering. It is his first time in Lisbon, so he is curious and eager to learn and to enjoy all the experiences awaiting him. “The weather is good, people are very friendly and hospitable, the city is very beautiful, and the school has a fantastic atmosphere”.

Mobility students who will attend courses at Taguspark campus have their welcome session scheduled for this Monday, September 21st.
