Campus and Community

Tecnico welcomes new staff members

Employees hired in 2023 were invited to take part in various activities held at Tapada da Ajuda, in Lisbon.

Tapada da Ajuda welcomed dozens of Técnico staff members on 13 December as part of the ‘Welcome to Técnico’ event, an initiative that has been running for two years. The new employees were invited to take part in activities organised around the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) campus and included group dynamics, a peddy-paper through the Tapada and lunch at ISA’s Exhibition Pavilion.

Rogério Colaço, the president of Técnico, delivered the opening remarks and highlighted “Técnico is a community of students, researchers, professors, technical and administrative staff”. He also stressed the importance of this welcoming activity as a way to encourage employees to get to know each other and to socialise.

Rogério Colaço argued that one of the advantages of Técnico’s longevity and size is “what can be done in terms of scale”. An example of that is this welcome day and the services that the school makes available to its employees, such as medical services, the Técnico Professionals’ Ombudsman and career mobility. António Guerreiro de Brito, president of ISA, welcomed the Técnico employees. Rogério Colaço confessed he “envied” him because he is “the only president of ULisboa School who can travel around his campus on horseback”, causing laughter in the audience.

The day included various activities organised by the Human Resources Division, which promoted interaction between employees. The new employees also had the opportunity to learn more about Técnico from the coordinators of the different services.
