Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Physics once again ranked among the top 3 courses with the highest grades of the last student admitted at national level – 1st phase of the national competition for access to public higher education 2019/2020. Aerospace Engineering ranked 1st and Engineering Physics ranked 2nd. According to the Directorate General for Higher Education (DGES), the grade of the last student admitted in Aerospace Engineering was 18.95 (out of 20) and in Engineering Physics was 18.88 (out of 20).
Two other Técnico courses ranked among the top 10: Applied Mathematics and Computation (18.38) and Biomedical Engineering (18.15).
The Bioengineering course at the Faculty of Engineering – University of Porto, ranked 3rd (18.65), followed by Industrial Engineering and Management at University of Porto (18.65). The medicine course at Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) ranked among the top 5 (18.50).

1474 students were admitted and all the vacancies were filled during the first phase of access to higher education. 59% of students got their first choice course.
