Two years after the last meeting, the Técnico Football Club (TFC) Gala took place last Saturday, October 9. The event brought together more than 70 participants, of which more than 40 are Técnico alumni from different generations, and the remaining participants are current student/athletes who represent Técnico at the highest level, in National University men’s soccer 11. The president of the TFC, João Santos, highlights “since the club’s foundation, on 4th October 2017, the TFC Gala has been the greatest and the most inclusive intergenerational moment, among all the annual TFC events”.
The various generations do not only meet at this Gala. The team itself is composed of a mix of current and former students. “The sense of belonging at TFC is evident as there is an increased collaboration of many members in the various projects”, highlights João Santos.
This month will be marked by another important moment. “We are going to participate in the Inatel championship looking to repeat the success of previous years”, shares the TFC president.
“We use our passion for football to support causes we care about, strengthening the link between our community and those in need, such as the community football tournaments or the volunteering to support the study of dozens of children. “In 2020, we created the TFC Academy project, in partnership with APIST. It has been a success and benefits everyone involved, from small athletes who develop physical abilities and learn more about Friendship, Respect, Team Spirit, Dedication and Responsibility, to “Misters” and future engineers who will experience a set of human interactions that will be useful for their personal and professional life”, stresses João Santos.
