ULisboa ranked among the 101 and 200 best universities and it’s  once again the best Portuguese university, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2019.

ULisboa maintained its positioning in two indicators and improved its score in the following four: the number of Highly Cited Researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics, the number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, the number of Highly Cited Researchers and the number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index – Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index produced by Web of Science Group, and per capita performance.

Other Portuguese universities ranked among the 500 best universities in the world, namely: the University of Porto (301 – 400) and the University of Minho and Nova Lisboa (401-500). The University of Coimbra (501-600) and the University of Aveiro (601-700), were also part of the list.

About 1800 universities are actually ranked by ARWU every year and the best 1000 universities are published.

For the 17th consecutive year, Harvard University ranks 1st, followed by the University of Stanford (USA), University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) and Berkeley (USA), respectively. ETH Zurich leads the European Universities, holding the 19th place, followed by the University of Copenhagen (26th).
