ULisboa is among the 129 best universities worldwide in Engineering & Technology.

According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020, Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) is once again among the world leading universities. ULisboa ranks 142th in Arts & Humanities (moving up 29 positions compared to last year’s edition), 237th in Life Sciences & Medicine (moving up 21 positions9, 188th in Natural Sciences (moving up 8 positions) and 237th in Social Sciences & Management (moving up 24 positions). In Engineering & Technology, ULisboa ranks 129th (moving up 11 positions compared to last year’s edition).

The prestigious ranking indicates that ULisboa’ s performance has improved in the 5 subjects. 48 different subjects are included in this ranking. We highlight ULisboa’s performance in the following subjects: Architecture and Buildings, Civil Engineering and Structures (51-100). Computer Science and Information Systems, Chemical Engineering, Engineering – Electrical and Electronic, mechanical, aeronautical & manufacturing engineering (101-150), where ULisboa ranks among the top 150 universities worldwide.

ULisboa is in the top 100 in Art & Design and Sports Sciences.

The University of Porto, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, University of Coimbra, University of Aveiro, University of Minho, ISCTE and Universidade Católica Portuguesa are also included in the ranking.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranks 1st in the larger number of scientific subjects – in 12 scientific areas – followed by Harvard University. The University of Oxford ranks 3rd.

The most recent edition of QS University Rankings by Subject was released this Tuesday, March 3, and compared 1,368 institutions from 83 locations worldwide. The assessment is made for each of the 48 classified areas / disciplines (grouped into five major themes) and takes into account several quality indicators (academic reputation, reputation among employers and scientific production).
