When you join Técnico you will embark on a great adventure that will change you in a way that you will only understand by the end of the course. Técnico will provide you top quality training and you will be exposed to ideas that are at the cutting edge of science and technology. You will meet new colleagues and make friends who will play in due course an important role in national and international organisations.
The three IST campuses will give you access to a set of infrastructures that are unique in the country, providing you with an updated education linked to business reality. I hope you make the most of this opportunity and honor the tradition of this centenary school by striving to do your best. Our country is investing a lot in your education and, more than ever, we need skilled and devoted engineers, architects, scientists and managers.
The education that you will receive at IST will open the doors to top-level positions in small and medium companies but will also give you the skills to launch your own company, creating economic value for our country and for Europe. The international visibility of Técnico will allow you to contact with a variety of different cultures, technologies and societies, which will give you a clear vision of Portugal’s opportunities in an international context.
The success of IST is mainly due to our students’ intelligence and performance who, over the last century, have been proving the teaching quality at IST. The new students, as well as the current and former ones, are responsible for maintaining and strengthening this tradition of excellence, showing the importance of holding a degree from Técnico. This will surely require a great effort from you, but in return you will gain a broad knowledge, you will try new experiences and you will make new friendships.
