“Welcome to Técnico: your new home”. These were the words of professor Alexandre Francisco, Vice-president of Técnico for Academic Affairs, in the welcome session for new students, held this Tuesday, September 13, at Alameda campus. “It gives me great pleasure to welcome you. I wish you a successful journey”, said professor Alexandre Francisco.

Professor Teresa Peña, President of the Pedagogical Council, also welcomed the new students and said “you will become part of this extraordinary world of Science and Technology”.

Leonor Matos, Biological Engineering Master’s student, and member of the Executive Board of the Pedagogical Council, highlighted the importance of school-life balance. “Your efforts will be rewarded”, she said.

The President of Técnico Students’ Union (AEIST), Gonçalo Mamede, talked about the AEIST, the student groups and the new academic life that now begins. He also highlighted the journey of two alumni: António Guterres and Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo. “Enjoy your student life at Técnico”, he said to the new students.

After the welcome session, the new students attended several course presentations: Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics and Computation, and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
