Xpand IT, a Portuguese tech company created by Técnico alumni and member of IST Spin-Off Community, won the 2021 Microsoft Partner of the Year Award – Portugal. The company won the award in the “Country Partner of the Year” category, for demonstrating excellence in innovation and implementation of customer solutions based on Microsoft technology, helping shape the Portuguese market in Business Applications and Intelligent Cloud. XpandIT was also recognized in the “App Modernization Partner of the Year” and “Co-sell Microsoft” categories.
The Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards recognize Microsoft partners that have developed and delivered outstanding Microsoft-based solutions during the past year. The awards were presented at Microsoft Inspire and were classified in various categories, with honourees chosen from a set of more than 4,400 submitted nominations from more than 100 countries worldwide.
“The company has a close relationship and partnership with Microsoft for several years”, stressed Sérgio Viana, Partner & Digital Xperience Lead at Xpand IT. “Our relationship with Microsoft has become closer and has been covering more areas over the years, which has resulted in this award – a hard work of all teams involved, both from Xpand IT and Microsoft”, he added. According to Sérgio Viana, this award is a recognition and responsibility with regard to future joint goals”.
In 2020, Xpand IT was awarded Partner of the Year’s prize in Power Apps & Data Analytics from Microsoft Portugal, and became the first Portuguese company recognized by Microsoft in the Modernization of Web Applications in Microsoft Azure advanced specialization.
In February 2021, the tech company has been elected “SME of the year” by Exame magazine.
Xpand IT was created at the end of 2003 by two Técnico alumni: Marco Oliveira and Pedro Gonçalves. Currently, with a team of more than 300 experts, the tech company has more than 340 clients in the service area in more than 30 countries.
The company has robust corporate social responsibility programmes, such as the scholarship programme that every year supports an increasing number of Técnico students. In 2020, Xpand IT was one of the companies that teamed up with Técnico to support the renewal of DEI’s RNL laboratories.
