ISR robots captivate the President of the European Parliament

Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament, visited the Institute for Systems and Robotics at Técnico during his official visit to Portugal.

This Thursday, September 27, the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, visited the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR-Lisbon) and some of the research projects carried out at this research centre. The President of Técnico, professor Arlindo Oliveira and professor Isabel Ribeiro accompanied Antonio Tajani during the visit. “Advanced multidisciplinary research on Robotics and Information Processing is carried out at ISR” explained professor Isabel Ribeiro. ISR’s mission and activities were some of the topics shared with the President of the European Parliament during the visit.

Antonio Tajani had the opportunity to interact with iCub and Vizzy. The president was captivated by Vizzy for its visual appearance and for its functions. Antonio Tajani played some of the games developed by ISR to encourage and monitor physical activity in elderly people. Despite the short time available, the president of the European Parliament, clarified his doubts during the visit, showing a real interest in learning more about ISR projects.
