Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) has consolidated its position among the 300 best Universities in the world, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai ranking.
ULisboa has not only consolidated its position, but has also managed to improve its performance and rise some indicators, such as the number of papers indexed by the Science Citation Index-Expanded and the Social Science Citation Index, and the per capita academic performance.
The Shanghai Ranking uses six indicators to rank world universities: alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, papers published in Nature and Science, papers indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded and Social Science Citation Index, and the per capita performance of an institution.
Harvard University (USA) ranked first, ahead of Stanford University (USA), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), University of Cambridge (UK) and Berkeley (USA).
