Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), together with Técnico, has supported the work carried out by the Student Groups over the last 8 years, recognising the potential of their projects, helping students reach their potential and develop their ideas.
Last Monday, 21st November, 14 projects were awarded under the CA2ECTécnico (a competition that aims to support extracurricular activities promoted by student groups at Instituto Superior Técnico). In total, CGD, which is part of the Técnico Partner Network, awarded 16,000 euros in prizes.
The President of Técnico, professor Rogério Colaço, highlighted the importance of the awards and the “presentation of increasingly competitive projects with increasingly interesting proposals”, and thanked CGD for supporting the initiatives and ideas of Técnico students.
Professor Isabel Dias, Vice-President of Técnico for Financial Management, underlined the difficulty in choosing the awarded projects due to the quantity, diversity and excellence of the 52 candidate projects.
The ceremony was also attended by Leonor Matos, a Student Member of the Executive Committee of the Pedagogical Council (CP), and Bernardo Santos, current president of the IST Students’ Union.
The pitch sessions took place afterwards. The student groups presented the awarded projects. Projects were awarded in 2022/2023:

–NFIST – 26th Physics Week
–NMATH-IST – Mathematics Seminar Series
–PSEM – GPR AI-SIM
–Técnico Fuel Cell – Development of the data acquisition, transmission and collection to optimise the FCEV driving strategy
–TLMoto – TLM04e prototype telemetry system
–TMIST – “Noite de serenatas” (Serenades Night)

The ceremony ended with a few words from Dr. José João Guilherme, Executive Director of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, who highlighted the importance of the projects presented and awarded.
