Professor Paulo Martins awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Technical University of Denmark

The long and regular collaboration between the professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Technical University of Denmark was clearly expressed during the ceremony.

Paulo Martins, professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) and researcher at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IDMEC) and Associated Laboratory for Energy, Transports and Aeronautics (LAETA), was awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa degree by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) during DTU’s annual ceremony held on May 4.

“An outstanding and extremely active scientist in manufacturing engineering”, with “strong experimental skills and deep theoretical knowledge” – this was how professor Niels Bay, professor and researcher at DTU, described professor Paulo Martins. During his speech, professor Niels Bays also referred the large scientific production of the IDMEC’s researcher and the collaboration between Técnico and DTU throughout the years very much owing to professor Paulo Martins.

According to professor Paulo Martins, who has long been linked with the Technical University of Denmark, “Professor Niels Bay was a great influence throughout my scientific and academic career. He brought me to the international scientific community, he allowed me to stay at DTU for a long and happy time and he explained to me the true meaning of scientific collaboration”.

“I am very proud to receive this distinction because it will contribute to continuously improve my scientific area abroad and it will also improve Técnico and ULisboa’s image overseas”, said professor Paulo Martins.
