“This is a good opportunity to meet people who can help us”

40 students from Técnico had the opportunity to meet a group of successful alumni during a breakfast meeting.

The 6th edition of Alumni Talks, organised by NAPE – Student Support Unit, took place this Wednesday. This event brings together students from Técnico and several successful alumni in an informal meeting on careers and opportunities.

For about two hours, 40 students from Técnico had the opportunity to talk with professor Arlindo Oliveira, president of Técnico, and professor Luís Caldas de Oliveira, vice-president for Entrepreneurship and Corporate Relations. The event was also attended by engineer Marcos Ribeiro (Santander Universidades), Francisco Sanchez (former president of Técnico Alumni Association – AAAIST), João Paulo Girbal (current president of AAAIST), Carlos Lacerda (SAP Portugal), João Pedro Tavares (Accenture Portugal), Pedro Rego (Procter & Gamble), Gonçalo Mendes (Followprice), Vasco Moreira (Followprice) and Pedro Oliveira (Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics).

According to Pedro Rego “ You don’t have to do your course in the traditional way, you don’t have to follow everyone. Courses at Técnico give you the opportunity to follow many different ways”.

João Brás was one of the students who attended this 6th edition. “I am finishing the course [Biological Engineering] and I want to start networking to be aware of the opportunities. Besides, this is a good opportunity to meet people who can help us”, he said. “Attending this event helped me to find opportunities that I didn’t know existed. This is an experience that I would recommend to everyone.”
