The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) climbed the ranking of the 2022/2023 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) and now ranks in the 79th position at European level and was ranked 200th among other universities in the world. There were 19,788 institutions evaluated, of which the best 2,000 were chosen.
At the national level, ULisboa occupies the first position and stands out from the other ones. As for the quality of the faculty, it has risen 2 more positions and currently occupies the 234th position. In the area of research is also at top level and occupies the 168th position in the world ranking.
The CWUR evaluates approximately 20,000 universities in each edition, considering 4 indicators: the quality of teaching (based on the success of alumni), the employability of alumni (alumni who hold top positions in the world’s largest companies), the quality of faculty (related to academic distinctions) and the quality of scientific production (publications and citations, influence and research work).
CWUR evaluates educational institutions already registered in international rankings as well as unregistered institutions, giving an opportunity for worldwide recognition in several categories.
In comparative terms, ULisboa was the best ranked, followed by the University of Porto, which occupies the 308th position globally, the University of Coimbra, as 413th ranked and the Nova University of Lisbon, which occupies the 518th place in the ranking.
Globally, Harvard University leads the 2022 ranking in first position, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University, which ranks in the third position.
