Student groups exhibit their projects at Novabase

This Wednesday afternoon several projects developed by Técnico students were exhibited at Novabase.

Novabase hosted an exhibition of several projects developed by Técnico students this Wednesday, April 18.

After the event Novabase@Técnico held at Técnico (Alameda campus), the company challenged Técnico to reverse the roles. In this way, the Technology Transfer Office at Técnico invited several student groups to take this challenge and to present their projects: Formula Student Project (FSTLisboa), Técnico Solar Boat, AeroTéc – Aerospace Engineering student group, “Projeto de Sustentabilidade Energética Móvel (PSEM)” and “Projeto Física Sobre Rodas”.

According to professor Luís Caldas de Oliveira, Vice-President of Técnico for Entrepreneurship and Corporate Relations: “Being here today is a way of showing the importance of Novabase. It is also an opportunity for students to show their work to such an important partner”. “I hope that all these people who visited our exhibition will talk to their children about the remarkable work developed by our students”.

Also Célia Vieira, Neotalent Executive Director at Novabase, praised this event: “It makes all sense to welcome Técnico and its talented students”. “It is increasingly important to reinforce the close link between companies and scientific knowledge”, she added.

“We are having a lot of fun. We were not expecting to be welcomed as we did because this is a company, so most of the visitors are professionals”, says Ana Sofia Ramalhete, a student who was presenting one of the projects. Besides disseminating their work, the students took the opportunity “to know more about a big and renowned company, to get an eventual job offer in the future and to find a potential sponsor”, she explained. “The overall outcome is very positive: we made people laugh, we sparked their curiosity, we made their lunchtime different and we gave them information about Técnico”, says the student.
